Welcome to the eduroam wireless network website
Eduroam is an international WiFi network connecting universities and higher education institutions across Europe. With a single account from your home institution, you can access the internet at any participating institution. The network in the Czech Republic is coordinated by CESNET.
The goal of the project is to make using the network as simple as using mobile roaming. Staff and students have access to the network at all participating universities. All you need to connect are the credentials from your home institution, regardless of which university you are visiting.
Connections outside MENDELU are handled by an authentication and authorisation infrastructure, which passes access information from the user to their home institution. The home institution then decides whether access to the network will be granted.
How it works at MENDELU
At MENDELU, the network is available under the name (SSID) "eduroam". To connect, you need a certificate generated in UIS, valid for 366 days. Access to the network also requires that access to the server "faro" is enabled in your account in the university's central network management system.
The certificate must be installed on every device you want to connect. Once it expires, you need to remove the old certificate, generate a new one, and install it again.
